About Us

North Wake College and Career Academy (NWCCA) is a Cooperative Innovative High School for students in Grades 9-12 that focuses on graduating students college- and career-ready in one of five program areas of study. NWCCA is a partnership between the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and Wake Technical Community College (WTCC). NWCCA students have the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma, a Wake Tech certificate, college credits, and recognized industry credentials.

NWCCA is a Project-Based Learning (PBL) school, allowing students to discover and build content knowledge by working on an authentic project over an extended period. These projects engage students in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question aligned with the course's content standards. Students demonstrate their understanding and skills by developing and sharing a public product with a real audience. As a result, a deep understanding of content knowledge is developed, while critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills are sharpened in a meaningful context.

To further enhance student learning, NWCCA has established a comprehensive career development program emphasizing college and career readiness. Businesses and industry experts power this program, providing employability skills training, career exploration activities, job shadowing experiences, summer internships, and employment opportunities.
